An Ottoman gilt-copper (tombak) tankard, Turkey, late 16th/early 17th Century fashioned in Timurid style.

The vessel is of globular shape with a narrow neck, with an exceptional elaborate scrolling handle holding the neck with a dragon-like head. The body is engraved with a central geometric stylized floral medallion framed by a trefoil spandrel decoration. The neck is carved with a continuous split palmette design interlaced with floral sprays. The tankard rests on a flaring foot.

Intact traces of well preserved original gilding on the neck and foot.
