An exquisite 18th Century Black Enamelled Dagger – Lucknow, India.

This finely enamelled example is among a rare group of daggers that have come out of the region of Lucknow in India. The silver handle is intricately decorated with floral and vegetal motifs that are finer than the finest lacework.

The top end of the handle has a foldable hinged medallion with a stylized cut-out vegetal pattern probably used to pull it out from a tight leather sheath that has not survived. The rare laddered water steel blade adds a collectable feature to this fine Indian dagger.
