A 17th Century Bidri Candlestick – Bidar, Deccan.

This unusual candlestick consists of a three legged plate-like base with raised rim. The top side of the base is decorated with 8 non-identical floral silver motifs inlaid into the alloy body. The top part of the candlestick consists of a series of globular and flaring rimmed decorated parts, some with floral and others with geometric silver inlays.

The striking feature of this Bidri piece is that it is not typically fully decorated with minute silver patterns. The contrast between the shiny silver decoration and the dark alloy makes the design stand out in a refreshing way.

Size: 15cm Wide at the base, 15cm Height.
