A fine Mughal chased Indian silver huqqa, 18th Century – North India.

This fine north Indian huqqa consists of a widely flaring base surmounted by a slightly tapering neck. The craftsmanship is exquisite and unusually reliant on form rather than surface embellishment. The flaring base (to stabilize the huqqa) ends with a finely hand engraved and chased wide border consisting of spiralling festoons terminating with petalled blooms. A similar but smaller pattern adorns the body just below the huqqa neck. The neck on the other hand starts and terminates with a matching yet smaller floral pattern.
