A scarce ceremonial 18th century Ottoman filigree silver child dagger.

The watered steel blade has an ornamental gilt silver body and scabbard. The body is overlaid with open filigree work and raised silver beads contrasting with the gilt body underneath. The sheath ends with a decorative globular filigree end. A talismanic chain with two carved agate beads hang from the side of the sheath.

Such items were worn on feast days and were never meant to be used.
